Okay, now this is definitely a craft for the boys. Be prepared though, they will giggle every single time the balloon makes a farting noise. It is part of the nature of the boy. This is not a very technical craft, but it is tons of fun and the kids really enjoy it. It can get a little messy, so old clothes and/or smocks are definitely recommended. Who knew that a farting balloon, a box and a little bit of paint could be so fun?
- Cardboard box
- Plain white paper
- Paint in various colors
- Paper plate
Cut a small hole in the middle of one end of the cardboard box. It just needs to be big enough for the end of the balloon to fit through and for your fingers to be able to hold it.
Tape white sheets of paper to the sides of the box except the one the hole is in.
Blow the balloon up and have one person hold the end closed. Do not tie it. Paint the balloon with any colors you like. We experimented with one being hand painted and another being rolled in the paint itself, but they both provided a similar effect.
Place the balloon into the box and pull the end through the hole so you are holding just the end on the outside of the box. Be sure to keep it pinched closed or you will have a big mess on your hands.
Close the top of the box and let the balloon go. It will make a farting noise as it deflates that the kids will find hilarious. Open the box to see how it went. Repeat as many times as you like until you have a good amount of paint on the papers. You can usually get a few turns out of the balloon if you are careful about how you handle it and blow it up.
