Everything is cooler in color right? We have an upcoming craft that calls for rice and I thought it would be a whole lot better if the rice was colored. The steps below will show you how to color rice that can be used for sensory boxes or craft projects like the one you will see here tomorrow. Trust me, the kids think this is the neatest thing since sliced bread and it really is super easy to do.
- White rice
- Food coloring
- Rubbing alcohol
- Aluminum foil
- Trays for drying the rice
- Ziplock bags
Place 1 tsp. of food coloring and 2 tsp. of rubbing alcohol in a large ziplock bag.
Place two cups of white rice into the back with the food coloring and alcohol mixture. Close the bag and mix well.
Lay the rice out flat on aluminum foil to dry. If done in the sun it only takes an hour or so, but we just let ours sit inside overnight.
Place the colored rice in ziplock bags for storage.
